The way we feel when we come to die is very much dependent on the way we have lived.
If our daily life has been positive and meaningful, when the end comes, even though we do not wish for it, we will be able to accept it as a part of our life. We will have no regrets.

- The Dalai Lama

Phinney Estate Law is a small law firm serving individuals and families in the Seattle area by providing legal assistance with:
  • Estate Planning & Disability Planning
  • Probate & Trust Administration (Traditional & Collaborative)
  • Guardianship & Elder Law
  • Mediation & Conflict Coaching
In our Estate Planning, Phinney Estate Law provides all of the traditional estate planning tools including Wills, Trusts, and Durable Powers of Attorney.  What makes our holistic approach to estate planning unique is our focus on making sure that the tools utilized match up with the client core values and larger goals for their lives and their families.

In the Probate, Trust Administration, and Guardianship contexts we use this same approach and focus our practice on helping families and individuals to efficiently achieve their legal goals while working to maintain as fully as possible family harmony and personal dignity. As a result our practice emphasizes non-litigated conflict resolution whenever possible.

Consistent with the approach we take to client services, we have endeavored to have our firm practices be consistent with our values as a firm.  To this end we have attempted to use best practices with regard to pro bono service, environmental sustainability, and community involvement. We invite you to learn more about the firm and read our attorney profiles.

To schedule a free half hour consultation to see if our services are right for you call us at (206) 459-1908, email us at [email protected], or attend one of our free classes.

We are able to schedule intakes for up to three new estate planning clients and one new probate client per week while serving our current clients and our court appointed work.  As a result, there is currently an approximately five month delay for estate planning intakes from a potential client's first call or email to our office.  We are still able to schedule appointments for estate planning updates for former clients and appointments to set up durable powers attorney for young adult children of former clients within two to three weeks and to schedule intakes for probates and trust administrations within two weeks of client contact.  We understand that these delays are inconvenient and may not work for some potential clients but they are necessary to make sure we can provide the best service possible to the clients we do work with.  If you need to see someone sooner than our schedule allows, you can still email our office and we can send you contact information for attorneys we know who are less busy and able to take clients on without delay.
